We bought our first Sheltie when we got married.  She was big and had a wonderful temperament and

she imprinted the breed into our lives.  Having said that our next dog was a Beagle, Molly  although she had a

brilliant temperament and a great character, she was not as obedient as a sheltie.  She died at 13years of

age and we decided not to have another dog as it was so upsetting when they died

We came to live in the Rossendale valley a semi rural area and we had no dog to walk, so we bought

another Sheltie, Silver.  He was 7 months old and on the breeders advise we started showing him at the local

Open Shows and Limit Shows.  We bought Silver a friend, Toby, we did not know what we were looking for

in a puppy and he grew very big.  Silver also grew too big for showing but by then we were hooked

Jimmy (Salroyd Black Jet) and Tina (Longdell's Blue Pearl at Colimar) were the next

additions to the family.  They were better quality show dogsand we travelled the length

and breadth of the country showing them- as you do when you first start showing.  Sadly

Jimmy died at 10 years old and we lost Tina at 15 years old.

We have both served on the Mid western Shetland Sheepdog Club Committee for the last twelve years and Colin has been Show  Secretary for ten years.  We have also run the Mid Western Sheltie Rescue in conjunction with Margaret Dobson and Colin has passed judging exams for the breed.  We haven't been showing for a number of years but have enjoyed going to the local breed shows.

We have now two sheltie bitches that we show. Poppy (Snabswood Smint of Colimar) and Jasmine (Colimar Celtic Charm), Jasmine being Poppy's puppy.  This year they have both had a litter, these can be seen through the 'Our Shelties' page.

the English Shetland Sheepdog Club's Contingency Fund.   It was a very successful and enjoyable day.

We also had enjoyable days taking the Mid Western Shetland Sheepdog Rescue Stall to different venues.
